Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation led by Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and International Relations of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan (MIAU) A. Abdirashidov visited Singapore to establish ties with theologians of the country, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the visit, the delegation took part in the celebration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad in the Baalvi Mosque, where imams and public figures from Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia gathered. The solemn event was also held with the participation of the President of the Republic of Singapore Halima Yakub.

The head of the Uzbek delegation made a speech at the ceremony, in which he spoke about the transformations in our country, the efforts to preserve historical, cultural and spiritual values, their popularization and the development of ziyorat tourism. He drew special attention to the contribution of the great ancestors of the Uzbek people Imam al-Bukhari and Imam al-Termizi to the development of scientific Islamic studies.

During the visit, negotiations were held with the Executive Director of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) E. Masoud on the role of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan in training personnel in the subjects of coranology, hadithology, Islamic law, basic sciences, as well as economics of finance, marketing and IT.

The parties expressed interest in deepening relations and establishing academic exchange.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on considering the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding.
