A delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in session of the Sixth Committee of the UNGA
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Treaty and Law Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the 73rd session of the Sixth Committee (on legal issues) of the UN General Assembly on 22-26 October.
During the sessions, debates took place on reports of the International Law Commission and the International Court of Justice. There were also meeting of the heads of legal services of the foreign affairs agencies of the organization’s member countries.
Issues of progressive development and codification of the norms of international law, as well as ensuring the rule of law in international relations were discussed in a multilateral format, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
In particular, special attention is paid to such issues of the agenda as jus cogens (imperative norms of the MP), identification of norms of international custom, immunity of state officials from foreign criminal jurisdiction, provisional application of treaties, subsequent agreements and subsequent practice regarding the interpretation of treaties and others.
As a result, the parties reviewed draft relevant resolutions of the UNGA, the adoption of which is expected in December 2018.
