Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation from Uzbekistan is paying a visit to China to study the experience of foreign countries in the field of STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics).
The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Public Education, the Center “Innovation, Technology and Strategy” under the Ministry of Public Education and non-governmental educational institutions.
On 12-14 December 2019, the delegation of Uzbekistan participated in the Shanghai International STEAM Education Expo (STEAMEX) in Shanghai.
The exhibition annually brings together manufacturers of various products for STEAM education from China and other countries of the world.
STEAM’s goal is to develop students’ highly organized thinking and train them in the effective application of their knowledge in disciplines such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and art through project-based learning. Moreover, STEAM education promotes integration, i.e. allows you to assimilate individual subjects in their relationship within the framework of complex educational projects.
The delegation of Uzbekistan visited the exhibition to study the experience of foreign countries in the field of STEAM-education and the organization of such events, including to organize the festival STEAM Fest - 2020 at a high level.
“The STEAM Fest 2019, which took place in October 2019, attracted the attention of children and their parents. We are studying international experience for holding the STEAM Fest - 2020 festival at an even higher level. We believe that public-private cooperation in the implementation of modern STEAM solutions in the future will yield positive results,” said Ayubkhon Sultonov, deputy head of the Department of Advanced Models of Schools and Public-Private Partnerships of the Ministry of Public Education.
“Now, knowledge of modern technologies and trends in this direction is a requirement of the time. In particular, STEAM, robotics and IoT (Internet of things) are the most relevant areas. The main purpose of participating in the STEAMEX exhibition is to establish relationships with leading manufacturers of the world,” Abduvali Khaidarov, head of the digital services implementation department of the Innovation, Technology and Strategy Center, said.
“Within the framework of this exhibition, the leading companies in the field of STEAM - HABA, LEARNING RESOURCE, LEGO, MICRO: BIT and others, presented their developments and products. These products allow creating an atmosphere around children where they will seek answers and develop skills to solve problems,” Feruza Vakhabova, head of the Association of Non-State Educational Institutions, noted.
