A delegation of the Oliy Majlis gets acquainted with the activities of the Bundestag

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the senators and deputies of the Legislative Chamber, the staff of the chambers of the parliament is paying visit to Germany to study the German experience of parliamentary control and legislative activity of the parliament.

On 12 August 2019, seminars were held on the role and tasks of the Bundestag in the political system of Germany, the mechanism of the legislative process. During the events, an exchange of experience took place in the field of the legislative process, strengthening inter-parliamentary relations.

The participants were informed about the history, legislative foundations and principles of the work of the chambers of the German parliament, as well as about the structure of the Bundestag executive office, the functional and official duties of employees, the mechanism of informational, analytical and logistical support for the activities of the deputies. They also discussed the mechanism of development, examination and discussion of draft laws in Germany, the role of the upper house of parliament in this process, the form of “checks and balances” between the branches of government. An exchange of views took place on the relationship between the central government and regional parliaments, and delimitation of powers between branches of government.

During the events, information was provided on the fundamental reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the tasks of the Oliy Majlis to ensure the legal framework for the implementation of foreign policy, expand trade and economic cooperation, attract foreign investment, develop tourism, and strengthen parliamentary, parliamentary and public control over the activities of executive bodies.
