A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea holds meeting in Senate

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 August, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with a delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary National Assembly of the Republic of Korea led by the head of the diplomatic forum on cooperation with the parliaments of the CIS countries, Ms. Choo Miae.

It was noted that Uzbek-Korean relations have reached the level of strategic partnership, thanks to the political will and determination of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae In. The development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries meets the interests of the peoples of Uzbekistan and South Korea, serves to strengthen friendship and cooperation, the Senate Information Service of the Oliy Majlis reports.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on pressing issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. It was emphasized that the recent visit of the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea and the current visit of parliamentarians of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan clearly demonstrate the dynamics of the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue.

The Korea-Uzbekistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Association, established in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea in April 1995, and since 2005, the Inter-Parliamentary Group of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, have been successfully operating. This helps strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas.

It was noted that inter-parliamentary cooperation provides an opportunity to expand partnerships in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian fields. In this regard, the parties expressed a common opinion on the need to effectively use the existing potential for further deepening interparliamentary cooperation, sharing experience in lawmaking and implementing parliamentary control mechanisms.
