A delegation of Minsk region to take part in the I Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- More than forty representatives of Minsk region will participate in the 1st Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan, which will be held in Minsk on 29-30 July, spokeswoman for the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Larisa Korshun said sb.by.

The program of the forum envisages the work of three sections: on issues of industrial cooperation, the agro-industrial complex, as well as interaction in the humanitarian, information and communication, and scientific fields. The main topic of the plenary session will be cooperation between the regions of the two countries. Deputy Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolay Rogashchuk will tell about the interregional relations of the Minsk region and the Republic of Uzbekistan in his report.

“Last year alone, the delegations of Uzbekistan visited Minsk region four times. Representatives of the central region twice made return visits, which resulted in the signing of three international documents regulating interregional cooperation. During the meeting, which took place in April of this year at the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the parties signed a memorandum of association on the establishment of a joint venture, said Larisa Korshun.

The result of the implementation of interregional cooperation agreements was a significant increase in the export of goods produced by Minsk region producers to the Republic of Uzbekistan. If in 2018, exports of goods made up US$12.8 million, in four months of this year, more than US$10 million were obtained.

Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is actively developing between Minsk and Tashkent regions. For example, the Minsk Regional Museum of Local Lore works with the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan.

It is expected that new inter-regional cooperation agreements will be signed at the venues of the forum, as well as commercial contracts.

The basis of Belarus exports to Uzbekistan in 2019 were meat and edible by-products from poultry, petroleum products and devices used in medicine. Cotton yarn, knitted fabrics, fresh and dried grapes were imported to Minsk region.
