A Criminal Investigation Officer Runs Over a Pedestrian in Bekabad District: Criminal Case Opened

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 December, a fatal traffic accident occurred at the 64th kilometer of the Karasu–Buka–Bekabad road, in the Korakuyli mahalla of Bekabad District, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

The driver of a Nexia-3 vehicle, who is an operative officer of the criminal investigation department, struck a 43-year-old pedestrian.

The man died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained.

Following the incident, the Bekabad District Prosecutor’s Office initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation rules resulting in a person’s death) and Part 2 of Article 117 (leaving a person in danger resulting in death).

A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to the suspect.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the body of the deceased has not yet been found, and search operations are ongoing.
