Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 July, US citizens Marshall Mayer and Ebru San got married on Registan Square. The Marriage Palace of Samarkand held a wedding ceremony and presented a marriage certificate, the press service of the Ministry of Justice reported.

According to the report, a few years ago, on 4 July, the couple met while cycling, and Ebru invited Marshall to the Nargis Uzbek restaurant in Brighton Beach. It turned out that both of them really like Uzbek national dishes. So the couple decided to get married on the same date in Samarkand.

Marshall Mayer has already visited Samarkand and liked the history and architecture of the city. “That's why they chose the Registan. For them, Samarkand is a wonderful place that reflects eternity,” Gazeta.uz said in a statement referring to the Ministry of Justice.

The ministry noted that holding such an exit ceremony became possible as a result of the reform of the registry office, in particular, the introduction of the extraterritorial principle of service.
