A central bus lane to open on Shota Rustaveli Street in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 7 October 2025, a central bus lane will officially begin operating on Shota Rustaveli Street in Tashkent. At the first stage, routes No. 37, 57, and 58 will use the new lane, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan reported.
According to the ministry, the project aims to prioritize public transport, reduce traffic congestion, and create safer and more convenient conditions for passengers.
With the launch of the new system, buses will operate along the dedicated central lane, while passenger boarding and alighting will take place on specially equipped platforms located in the middle of the roadway. Access to the platforms will be permitted only via designated pedestrian crossings. Crossing the street in unauthorized areas is strictly prohibited.
Passengers are reminded to observe all safety rules: cross only at marked “zebra” crossings, pass in front of the bus, wait behind the yellow safety line, and approach the doors only after the bus has come to a complete stop. Authorities also urge pedestrians to be cautious when using mobile phones near bus stops.
The central lane on Shota Rustaveli Street is reserved exclusively for buses. Any attempts by other vehicles to enter, stop, or cross this lane will be treated as a traffic violation. Drivers are required to yield to buses at permitted intersections and are forbidden to make left turns or U-turns along the entire stretch of the street, except at specially marked junctions.
Officials emphasize that the introduction of the central bus lane marks an important step in the modernization of Tashkent’s transport system. All road users are urged to show mutual respect, attentiveness, and road culture to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
