A branch of NRNU MEPhI is being created in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI, Russia) is being created in Uzbekistan.

On 20 July, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On establishment and organization of activities in the city of Tashkent of the branch of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “National Research Nuclear University “MEPI”.

According to the document, the branch will begin its work from 2019/2020 academic year. The training will be conducted according to the curricula and programs approved by the NRNU MEPhI.

The branch will train engineering and technical personnel in the field of nuclear power engineering and thermal physics. The branch of the NRNU MEPhI will carry out fundamental and applied scientific research in the field of nuclear physics.

The head of Uzbekistan instructed to hand over the unoccupied radiochemical complex with the adjacent territory to the right of uncompensated use to NRNU MEPhI. It is planned to reconstruct buildings and prepare a hostel for students and teachers.

Graduates of the branch, trained on the basis of state grants, will be distributed to work with the condition of working out at least five years in the organizations of the industrial and industrial branch of Uzbekistan.
