A branch of an international non-profit organization has been registered with the Ministry of Justice

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 9 March 2020, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan registered a branch of the international non-profit organization Mercy Corps (USA) in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

In accordance with the Charter, the main objectives of this organization are to establish and strengthen ties between private, state and public organizations in order to improve the living conditions of rural and urban families in Uzbekistan, as well as improve educational services in partnership with the Government to improve the quality of education, balanced nutrition and improving the infrastructure of educational institutions.

The branch expressed a desire to implement the project “Food Products for Education and Baby Food in Uzbekistan”, funded by the US Department of Agriculture, from 2020 to 2025. The project budget is US$21.5 million.

The project is focused on preschool institutions in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Surkhandarya region, in order to support a balanced diet and improve infrastructure in preschool educational institutions.

The branch’s activity is aimed at 410 preschool institutions located in rural areas and in places with limited resources. Repair and construction work will be carried out in these preschool institutions, and they will also receive support to improve water supply and sanitation.

As part of the implementation of this project, as well as other areas of activity in accordance with the statutory goals, the branch intends to establish cooperation with the ministries of preschool education, public education, higher and secondary special education, and health care.
