9 Years of OSON: From a Local Startup to Central Asia’s Digital Infrastructure Architect
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Fintech holding OSON celebrates its 9th anniversary. Founded in 2016 as Uzbekistan’s first e-wallet, the company has transformed into an international holding. Today, OSON not only processes payments — it is building a unified financial ecosystem for Central Asia, expanding to the UAE and US markets.
9-Year Highlights: Scale and Trust
By its ninth anniversary, OSON reaches record figures. Over 2.8 million users rely on the ecosystem. In just the first nine months of 2025, the holding’s services processed more than 30 million transactions — including money transfers, service payments, and business support.
Product Evolution: More Than a Wallet
Today, OSON is a diversified holding meeting all the needs of the digital economy:
- OSON Wallet & Transfer: Cross-border transfers and multi-currency accounts
- OSON Terminals: A proprietary network of 500 own and 1,200 agent terminals connecting cash and digital worlds
- OSON Business (PaaS): An aggregator platform giving partners a single API for payments and regional services
- OSON eSIM: Telecom services in 178 countries worldwide
Strategy: Foundation First, Expansion Second
Unlike many competitors, OSON follows a strategy of fundamental presence. In Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, the company first establishes a legal framework, obtains licenses, integrates with banks, and only then scales its products.
The holding already operates in the UAE (DIFC) and is preparing to obtain an MSB (Money Services Business) license in the US.
Farhod Mahmudov, Founder & CEO:
“Over 9 years, we’ve accomplished what many thought impossible. From a local startup, we have grown into a holding that sets fintech standards in the region.
We see Central Asia evolving — borders are blurring, economic ties are strengthening. OSON is becoming the digital bridge connecting banks, businesses, and people.
My greatest pride is not only the 30 million transactions, but also our team, which built this complex architecture. We don’t copy models — we create solutions needed here and now.
Nine years was just the runway. In 2026, with the launch of our new multi-currency platform, we will showcase OSON’s true potential.”
Looking Ahead to 2026: A Year of Major Releases
For its anniversary, the company is preparing a major update. In 2026, the new OSON Wallet — a unified multi-currency platform for all countries of operation — will launch, combining international transfers, local payments, and investment tools in a single interface.
Other plans include:
- $3 million investment in expanding the terminal network
- Completing US licensing and launching the “America — Central Asia” corridor
- Scaling the PaaS platform for B2B partners
- OSON continues to expand digital opportunities and strengthen the region’s financial infrastructure.
