5 May to Be Celebrated as “Profession and Labor Day” in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, 5 May will be celebrated as “Profession and Labor Day.”
The decision follows Presidential Resolution No. PP–316 of 23 October 2025, “On Measures for Implementing Reforms in the Vocational Education System,” which outlines the key goals for modernizing vocational education through 2030.
Among the priorities of the reform are increasing the number of technical colleges offering international and joint educational programs to at least 250, as well as expanding the coverage of ninth-grade graduates receiving vocational education from 29% to 50%.
The plan also envisages a significant increase in the number of educators participating in professional development programs and overseas internships, from 100 to 2,500.
The document provides for the possibility of transferring tenth-grade students from schools to technical colleges, creating additional pathways for professional training.
Every year on 5 May, events will be held to promote the attractiveness of professions and popularize vocational education among youth and the wider public.
