40 tonnes of raw materials imported from China for sewing protective equipment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – More than 40 tonnes of raw materials needed for the production of medical masks and workwear were delivered on a special charter flight from China to Uzbekistan on 5 April.

As previously reported, due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the world, and in particular in Uzbekistan, there was a shortage of raw materials used in the manufacture of protective masks. This, in turn, led to the problem of the lack of masks and overpricing.

In order to provide the textile and pharmaceutical industries with raw materials and increase the daily production of masks to 5 million pieces per day, the Uztekstilprom Association, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, imported more than 40 tonnes of raw materials to Uzbekistan - SMS, rubber bands, protective overalls and masks.

A charter flight is the first, and it is expected that starting this month, deliveries of raw materials by rail and road will be organized.
