24 Transport and Logistics Centers in Uzbekistan Granted Status of International Dry Ports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, 24 transport and logistics centers have been granted the status of international dry ports. The decision was made at the sixth meeting of the Working Group on “Dry Ports” in Bangkok under the “Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports” of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP). A representative of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, I. Absattorov, participated in the event.
National studies conducted by the Center for Transport and Logistics Development under the Ministry of Transport, with technical support from UN ESCAP, showed that 24 transport and logistics centers in the country meet the dry port requirements outlined in Appendix II of the Agreement. Based on these findings, the Ministry of Transport proposed including the relevant centers in the international list of dry ports (Appendix I of the Agreement).
During the Working Group meeting, it was confirmed that all 24 transport and logistics centers comply with the established standards and are now officially included in the international list of dry ports, receiving the status of facilities of international significance.
The distribution of dry ports across the country is as follows: seven in Tashkent, four in Tashkent Region, three each in Fergana and Surkhandarya Regions, two in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and one each in Jizzakh, Navoi, Samarkand, Namangan, and Bukhara Regions.
The international dry ports list includes transport and logistics centers such as Universal Logistics Services, First Dry Port Terminal, Orient Logistics Centre, Terminal Services Invest Group, Azia Trans Terminal, Texnopark, Uzbekistan Airports Cargo, and logistics centers in Angren, Jizzakh, Kokand, Ferghana, Margilan, Raustan, Ulugbek, Termez, Airitom Logistics Centre, Termez Cargo Centre, Navoi Cargo, as well as logistics centers in Bukhara, Nukus, and Kungrad Cargo Impex.
The designation of international dry port status aligns with decrees of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at developing the transport and logistics system, expanding transit corridors, and integrating the country into international logistics chains.
