17-Year-Old Uzbek Citizen Dies in Istanbul Road Accident, Driver to Face Trial
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Turkish media outlets, including NOW TV, and social media channels such as Uzbeks in Türkiye have reported that 17-year-old Uzbek citizen Samirjon Sattorov died as a result of a road traffic accident in Istanbul.
The incident occurred on 5 April 2025, when Sattorov sustained severe injuries in a crash and was hospitalized. Despite receiving medical care, he passed away on April 15. His funeral took place on April 17 in Samarkand region. Relatives of the deceased did not contact the Consulate General following the incident.
According to available information, the Turkish citizen responsible for the accident fled the scene but surrendered to police the next day, expressing remorse. A toxicology test revealed the presence of narcotics in his blood.
Although he has not been taken into custody, a court hearing is scheduled for 2 October 2025. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan is providing the necessary consular and legal support to the victim’s family.
