106 Businesses Suspended in Tashkent and Tashkent Region for Violating Environmental Regulations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The activities of 106 business entities have been temporarily suspended in Tashkent and Tashkent Region, while 58 greenhouse farms have been fined for breaching environmental legislation.
These measures were implemented in line with Resolution No. ПК-59 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, dated 8 February 2025, aimed at reducing emissions of smoke, dust, and toxic gases from greenhouses, industrial enterprises, and social facilities.
To enforce these measures, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the General Prosecutor’s Office, and local authorities of Tashkent and Tashkent Region formed working groups of over 300 specialists. They conducted a comprehensive survey of greenhouses, industrial enterprises, construction material plants, and social facilities in the capital region.
During inspections, 4,869 facilities were examined, including 595 greenhouse farms (381 in Tashkent Region and 214 in Tashkent city), 2,265 social facilities, and 1,998 industrial enterprises and construction material plants. Preventive and educational activities were carried out at all sites.
Violations of air quality regulations were identified, including cases of harmful chemical, physical, and biological emissions. Strict measures were applied to prevent and reduce such breaches.
Specifically, 58 greenhouse owners were fined for improper operation of smoke exhaust systems, the operations of 106 businesses were suspended, and 387 entities received official warnings to comply with environmental standards and to stop using plastic film, car tires, and plant residues as fuel.
Monitoring and enforcement activities continue on an ongoing basis.
