Uzbekistan increases power export to Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased export power supply to neighbouring Afghanistan from 25 megawatt to 150 megawatt. Currently, Uzbekistan supplies 2.3 million kWh of electricity daily to Mazar-e Sharif and Kabul.
Uzbekenergo state joint stock company launched 500 kV power transmission line on route Guzar substation to Surkhan substation with the cost of US$93 million.
The Guzar-Surkhan power transmission line allowed to create energy circle of Uzbekistan and ensured direct electricity supply to Surkhandarya region. Earlier, Uzbekistan supplied electricity via Tajikistan.
