Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Three new directions will be opened at VGIK branch in Tashkent. Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova, Rector of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov Vladimir Malyshev and General Director of the Cinematography Agency of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the VGIK branch said this at a meeting in the Tashkent branch of VGIK in Tashkent Firdavs Abdukhalikov.
The agreement was reached during the visit of the leadership of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the rector of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography to Uzbekistan.
Olga Lyubimova and Vladimir Malyshev got acquainted with the material and technical base of the university and the conditions created for students, held a meeting with them, and also discussed plans for the future.
Lyubimova called the opening of the VGIK branch in Tashkent the most important event for the development of cinematography in Russia and Uzbekistan
“This decision was made at the initiative of the leaders of our states. The attention and the reverent and sensitive attitude of our presidents to cinematography is very pleasant and important. Thanks to this initiative, cinema in Uzbekistan is beginning to revive from the ground up, from the word,” said Olga Lyubimova.
Also, the Minister of Culture of Russia met with the students of the university and congratulated them on the opening of the branch and the completion of the first academic year.
“The path you have chosen is very difficult. And only those who cannot live without cinema go through to the end. I wish you to go to the end, to become excellent professionals. We are waiting for you, waiting for your films. Make the most of the chance that is given to you,” the Minister of Culture of Russia said at a meeting with students.
Director General of the Cinematography Agency and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the VGIK branch in Tashkent Firdavs Abdukhalikov shared the immediate plans of the Tashkent branch.
“During today’s meeting, we demonstrated our capabilities to the leadership of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and VGIK, and thereby convinced them of the need open three new directions - acting, film and television directing and cinematography. These directions will be opened already in the next academic year, and it is important that an agreement on this was reached during the visit. The leadership of VGIK promised us that a base of qualified teachers would be formed in these areas,” said Firdavs Abdukhalikov.
The rector of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography Vladimir Malyshev emphasized that VGIK received the status of a university, and also spoke about the purposes of the visit to Uzbekistan.
He noted that the visit is working. One of his goals is to bring craftsmen who will give master classes for students. These are the Executive Director of the Cinema Fund, the General Producer of AMA Film Company LLC, the Executive Director of the KINOPRIME Foundation Anton Malyshev and the General Director of Stella Creative Studio, the General Director of VGIK-Debut LLC, the General Director of the Fund for Social and Economic Support of the Russian cinematography, academician of the film academy "Golden Eagle", academician of the film academy "NIKA", board member of the Guild of Producers of Russia, member of the Russian Oscar Committee Fedor Popov.
According to Vladimir Malyshev, the visit was organized to discuss the further development of the branch on site. In July, the university will start recruiting students.
He also called the opening of the Tashkent branch of VGIK by the Cinematography Agency on the initiative of the President a great event and thanked the leadership of the Cinematography Agency for their work on equipping the university and creating conditions for students.
“As we know, many ideas remain only on paper, but in this case we see that the branch has begun work, and I believe that in the future it will produce mature, qualified personnel in the field of cinematography. Experienced teachers play an important role in this regard. VGIK not only gives a diploma, but also prepares strong professionals. Our visit will increase the number of such specialists, and in the future we will further strengthen cooperation with the Uzbek side. I would like to thank the government of Uzbekistan and the leadership of the Film Agency for the conditions that are created for students. There is everything for getting a quality education,” Malyshev concluded.
