Press tour to Andijan region - tour of localization enterprises
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The second day of the press tour to Andijan region was completely devoted to the topic of localization in the automotive industry.
In his presentation to the participants of the event, the director of JSC Uzavtokomponents, Shafkatbek Alimov, noted that today there are more than 170 enterprises in Uzbekistan that supply components for the production of passenger cars. More than 200 technologies have already been mastered on the basis of the enterprises’ data and more than 4,000 parts have been localized.
The main goal of localization is to reduce the cost of manufactured products and the dependence on foreign exchange. Nevertheless, the automotive industry remains dependent on imported raw materials and components, which is often due to the impossibility of localization. For example, bodies for passenger cars are manufactured in Uzbekistan, but Russian steel is used (it has recently risen in price by 35-60%). Also, the dependence on the exchange rate affects the loans available to enterprises, the interest on which is set in the range of 20-24% in national currency and 7% -8% in US dollars. while in other countries this percentage is about 2-3%. More than 75 billion soums were paid only on the interest of these loans.
Science and technology play an important role in the localization of parts and components. In order to develop these areas in the automotive industry, the Research and Development Center was established under Uzavtosanoat JSC. The center’s activities are aimed at the development of new technologies, standardization and testing in the automotive industry. In addition, the functions of the center include engineering, styling and training of manufacturing specialists in the industry.
It was also noted that in order to reduce the cost of manufactured products, industry companies conduct a detailed analysis of each imported part at the level of each component part, right down to the analysis of the raw materials used. In addition, prices are calculated using the methods and experience of major automakers, such as the Cost Analyze principle - analysis of efficiency factors. As a result of this approach, as well as other measures to reduce the cost, localization enterprises in 2020 saved 338.55 billion soums.
For the implementation of new projects and the development of new types of products, it is also planned to create a Special Industrial Zone "Industrial Hub of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering", where the production of component parts for cars on the GEM platform will be established. The enterprises within the industrial zone will master the most modern and new technologies for the industry, such as chrome plating of plastic parts, extrusion of rubber parts, production of parts by hot stamping, production of springs by cold forming, production of plastic fuel pumps, etc. The industrial zone will be located in the Andijan region on an area of more than 40 hectares in the initial stages, then there is the possibility of expansion by organizing new production lines. The implementation of this project will be organized according to the principle of an industrial cluster, thereby providing the manufacturing enterprises with access to all utilities necessary for production; the industrial zone will also be located on an area with improved infrastructure. Nine manufacturing enterprises within the industrial zone will create 1,200 jobs.
