People’s poet of Uzbekistan Omon Matjon dies at death

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the night of 28-29 October 2020, the people’s poet of Uzbekistan, a member of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan Omon Matjon, died in Tashkent at the age of 77.
Omon Matjon was born in 1943 in Gurlan district of Khorezm region. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Samarkand State University. From 1969 to 2002 he worked as an editor, head of a department, chief editor of the Yoshlik magazine, director of the Cholpon publishing house named after Gafur Gulyam.
Omon Matjon began to publish in the press with his poems in the 60s of the last century. The best poems of the poet were "Open Windows" (1970), "Sundial" (1974), "Dramatic Epics" (1975), "Burning Tree" (1977), "I Love You" (1983), "Trees and Grasses" (1984), "The Bird’s Way" (1993), "The Light of Faith" (1995) and others.
In 2000, the work of the poet "Ardahiva" was published, dedicated to the 2700th anniversary of Avesto.
Omon Matjon skillfully translated into our native language many examples from fraternal and foreign literature. In particular, the translations of such world classics as F. Schiller, S. Baudelaire, E. Evtushenko, R. Khamzatov, S. Petofi, Yu.
People’s poet of Uzbekistan Omon Matjon was awarded the State Republican Prize for his contribution to the development of our literature.
