Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 22 July, Tashkent city police started to test body-cameras, the Uzbek Interior Ministry said.
The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 3 July 2019 “On additional measures to provide the employees of the internal affairs agencies with mobile video surveillance equipment”, the body-cameras should be introduced from 1 January 2020.
According to the General Directorate of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from 22 July, practical tests of body-cameras began on the streets of the capital, the purpose of which is to test the body-camera work, as well as to identify and eliminate possible shortcomings.
Before engaging in a dialogue with drivers, traffic police officers will warn them that their conversation is being recorded on a body-camera. The test results will be studied by a reputable commission, after which the development company will present suggestions and recommendations.
It is worth noting that, along with body-cameras, specially designed vests for traffic police inspectors are tested.
