Uzbek-Lithuanian political consultations takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 December 2018, the 7th round of political consultations between delegations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Lithuania was held in Tashkent.
The delegations headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusiewicius discussed substantively the state and prospects of bilateral relations, interaction in various multilateral formats, including Uzbekistan-European Union, and also exchanged views on topical issues international and regional issues.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, priority directions for further development of the Uzbek-Lithuanian dialogue in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as in the field of tourist exchanges, have been considered.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in building relationships on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis in all areas of mutual interest.
At the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics in mutual trade. In particular, for 10 months of the current year, the trade turnover increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2017.
At the same time, as it was emphasized, the potential has not been exhausted, especially in such sectors of the economy as innovation, transport and logistics, food and pharmaceutical industries, the agricultural sector and others.
There was also an exchange of views on the schedule of meetings in 2019 of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, the Joint Working Group in the Field of Agriculture, and other events.
The Uzbek side invited representatives of Lithuania to take part in the upcoming international conference next year, “Central Asia: New Opportunities and Prospects for Regional Cooperation” in Tashkent.
Ambassador of Lithuania Remigijus Motuzas participated in the consultations.
