Uzbekistan Temir Yollari launches train service from Tashkent to Khiva
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) launched a train service in the direction of Tashkent-Khiva.
On the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, a new railway line with a length of more than 30 kilometers was laid from Urgench to Khiva. In Khiva, a new railway station was constructed. The project cost is US$35.9 million. The station created in Khiva can accommodate 200 passengers at the same time.
The first passengers of the train were solemnly greeted by representatives of Khorezm region khokimiyat, state and public organizations, veterans and young people.
The length of the route between Tashkent and Khiva is about 1,130 km. The train overcomes this distance in 14-16 hours.
