Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the invitation of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states, a parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Nigmatilla Yuldoshev took part in the 48th meeting of the IPA CIS, which takes place in St. Petersburg, the Senate of Uzbekistan said.
As part of the 48th plenary meeting of the IPA CIS, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev signed the Convention on the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Speaking to the participants of the IPA CIS meeting, he noted that Uzbekistan closely followed the development of processes within the CIS, the activities of the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States, including the IPA CIS, which in the new historical conditions continues to actively and effectively promote the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the participating countries.
It was noted that the IPA CIS took a worthy place in the system of world parliamentarism. At the same time, the important contribution of the Russian Federation to ensuring the success of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly was emphasized.
Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in recent years has successfully promoted his renewed domestic and foreign policy. In the large-scale transformations, being carried out in Uzbekistan in accordance with the Action Strategy for the five priority directions of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021, the parliament plays a special role. Serious attention is paid to parliamentary diplomacy, the development of bilateral and multilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Our country optimizes its approaches and gives a qualitatively new dynamic to its participation in the activities of the CIS. For the republic, the Commonwealth of Independent States remains the most important institution of practical cooperation in priority areas, and the participating countries remain our partners, neighbors and friends.
Undoubtedly, the full participation of parliamentarians of Uzbekistan in the activities of the IPA CIS will open a fundamentally new page in our relations, expand a multifaceted and productive partnership through the parliamentary dimension.
Members of the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan will also take part in the international conference "The 150th anniversary of the St. Petersburg Declaration on the prohibition of the use of certain explosive shells during the war: new contexts, former significance", which will be held on 30 November.
