Uzbekistan’s industrial output hits 60.5 trln. soums in Jan-Apr

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Enterprises of Uzbekistan, according to preliminary data, produced industrial products for 60.3 trillion soums in January-April 2018, which is 11.6% more compared to the same period of 2017, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The main factor in the growth of total industrial output was increase in production of manufacturing industry by 7.8% (contribution to the increase of industrial output – 5.9 points), mining and quarrying by 35.4% (5.1 points), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 3.1% (0.3 points) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities by 35.4% (0.3 points).
The volume of goods produced by enterprises of the mining and quarrying in January-April 2018 made up 10.4 trillion soums, or 17.3% of the total industrial output. In the mining industry by type of output, compared to the corresponding period of the last year, there is an increase in production of crushed stone by 1.9 times, kaolin - 44.8%, gas condensate - 20.3% and natural gas - 6.7%, while there is a decrease in petroleum production by 9.8% and coal - 0.8%.
The volume of goods produced by manufacturing enterprises in January-April 2018 reached 44.5 trillion soums, or 73.8% of the total industrial output. In the structure of manufacturing the share of high-tech industries was 1.2% (in January-April 2017 - 1.8%), medium-high-tech - 27.7% (19.5%), medium-low-tech - 30.9% (26.4%) and low-tech 40.2% (52.3%).
In comparison with the corresponding period of the last year, production of tractors increased by 11.4 times, automobile engines - 37.9%, paints and varnishes based on acrylic or vinyl polymers - 31.4%, motorcars (excluding specialized) - 26.4%, diesel fuel - 15.4%, vegetable oil - 7.2%, motor gasoline - 3.7% and cotton fiber - 1.9%, while the production of buses, trucks, portland cement and tobacco products decreased.
The volume of products, produced by electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning enterprises amounted to 4.8 trillion soums (7.9% of the total industrial output). In January-April 2018, compared with the same period of the last year, transmission and distribution of electrical energy increased by 3.3%, production and distribution of gaseous fuels - by 0.6%.
The volume of products, manufactured by water supply, sewage, waste management and remediation enterprises, exceeded 620.5 billion soums (1.0% of the total industrial output). Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year there is an increase in recyclable materials containing ferrous metals by 79.1%, recyclables containing aluminum by 50.9%, water treatment and distribution services by 19.1%, services in waste water removal, transportation and remediation by 14.8%.
Production of consumer goods reached 18.3 trillion soums and, as compared to January-April 2017, increased by 5.5%, the share in the total industrial output was 30.3%.
Compared with January-April 2017 in the structure of consumer goods, the share of non-food products increased from 49.2% to 61.0% in January-April 2018.
The largest share in structure of industrial output belongs to Tashkent region and Tashkent city (16.1% of total output), Navoi region (11,8%), Andijan region (10.2%), Kashkadarya region (7.2%), Ferghana region (6.2%), while the smallest share - to Surkhandarya region (1.4%), Jizzakh region (1.5%), Syrdarya region (2.1% percent), Namangan (2.3%) and Khorezm regions (2.8%). It should be noted that implementation of high-tech projects for production of competitive products contributed to a significant increase in production of Surkhandarya region (+41.5% to January-April 2017), Andijan region (+29.4%), Khorezm region (+17.7%), Kashkadarya region (+12.4%) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (+12.9%).
Analysis of differentiation of industrial production per capita shows the excess of the average national indicator (4.45 million soums) in Navoi region (13.77 million soums), Tashkent city (11.57million soums), Tashkent region (7.4 million soums) and Andijan region (2.03 million soums).
At the regional level the high growth rates of average per capita industrial output were observed in Surkhandarya region (+38.6% to January-April 2017), Andijan region (+27.3%) and Khorezm region (+15.8%), while the low growth rates were marked in Bukhara region (-3%) and Samarkand region (-1%).
Dynamic development of industrial activity of small business entities ensured the growth of industrial production to the corresponding period of the previous year by 4.4%, the share of small business in industry was 28.7%. At the regional level the largest share of small business was observed in Tashkent city (66.9% of the total regional industrial output), Namangan region (56.9%), Samarkand region (52.2%) and Jizzakh (51.1%), while the smallest share was registered in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (11.8%), Navoi region (11.9%), Tashkent region (16.2%) and Kashkadarya region (17.4%).
Currently there are 51,600 industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan, of which 12,474 enterprises are located in Tashkent city, 5,684 in Ferghana region, 5,994 in Tashkent region, 5,110 in Andijan region, 4,061 in Samarkand region, 4,045 in Namangan region, 2,353 in Bukhara region, 2,244 in Khorezm region, 2,224 in Kashkadarya region, 2,004 in Jizzakh region, 1,789 in Surkhandarya region, 1,587 in Navoi region, 1,128 in Syrdarya region and 1,508 in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
In January-April 2018, about 4,000 industrial enterprises were re-established in the republic, of which about 70% fell to share of Tashkent city, Ferghana region, Tashkent region, Andijan region, Samarkand region and Namangan region.
