Health Ministry: Young specialists head to regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Young healthcare specialists are heading to the regions to work in local medical institutions, the press service of the Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan said.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on 12 December 2017 to discuss actual issues of healthcare sector. Uzbek leader underlined that there is shortage of healthcare specialists in the regions.
According to study, currently medical institutions need over 11,000 doctors and this hampers to provide high quality medical services to the population. The study showed that there is need for 3,462 general practice doctors and 8,217 – specialized doctors.
Graduates of medical institutions underwent state attestations in the beginning of 2018. They are concluding labour agreements. They are also provided with habitation in the region.
It is expected that 88% of vacancies for general practice doctors and 55% of vacancies for specialized doctors will be filled.
