Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A group of servicemen from the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan took part in international competitions among the reconnaissance units “Cambrian Patrol” from 10 to 17 October 2017.
The Cambrian Patrol has been held annually in Wales for 40 years. "Cambrian Patrol" is considered one of the most complex and prestigious competitions, which can be compared with the selection of special purpose units. Special requirements are made for the physical training of servicemen.
This year, 139 teams from 29 countries took part in the competition. The servicemen of Uzbekistan took part in these competitions for the first time.
The two-day patrolling mission is a mind-and-muscle sapping 60km, carrying full personal kit and equipment weighing in at some 50lbs. At the completion of the exercise each patrol faces a comprehensive debriefing session.
Depending on how they have dealt with all those challenges they are awarded points, for which they will either gain the top gold medal, a silver, bronze or certificate finish. A patrol can complete with five soldiers, taking into account any injuries or other issues which depletes the team, but they can only be awarded a certificate in that instance.
The military intelligence group of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan took the second place together with the team from Italy (according to the contest rules, two teams win each prize-winning place).
Winners of the contest were awarded with commemorative medals and certificates of honor.
