Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and the International Labour Organization (ILO) signed a memorandum of understanding, envisaging prolongation of the realization of “Country programme on decent work” for 2017-2020.
The document was signed in Tashkent with the visit of the delegation of the ILO led by the Director of ILO Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia Heinz Koller, the Uzbek Labour Ministry said.
Minister of Labour of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov expressed gratitude to the ILO, international organization and diplomatic corps in Uzbekistan and said that within the Country programme on decent work for 2014-2016, Uzbekistan successfully realized measures on improving national labour legislation, improving awareness of population on labour rights. He also noted that feedback system and communication tools on improving awareness of people on preventing violation of labour legislation were introduced.
Heinz Koller said that Uzbekistan achieved significant process on implementation of international labour norms and standards, eliminating child and forced labour during cotton harvest campaign with efforts of social partners and technical support of the ILO.
He added that the country demonstrates responsible and balanced approach to its international liabilities in the sphere of labour.
