Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Uzbekistan signed a credit agreement for 12 billion yens (about US$99.603 million) for implementation of the Tashkent Thermal Power Cogeneration Plant Construction Project.
The project will be financed due to resources of the Japan’s Official Development Aid programme.
The objective of the project is to provide an efficient and sustainable supply of heat and power in Tashkent by constructing a thermal and power cogeneration facility in the city, thereby contributing to the country’s sustainable economic growth.
The project envisages construction of four gas-turbine facilities with the capacity of 27 megawatt each. Japan provides loan for 40 years with ten year grace period. The loan funds for the project will be allocated to construction of the plant and related facilities, and to consulting services (design work, assistance with bidding and construction supervision).
According to JICA, new station will be commissioned in August 2020.
