Uzbekistan tightens punishment for harassment of entrepreneurs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative norms entered into force in Uzbekistan, which envisages strengthening administrative responsibility for hindering entrepreneurship activities and interference to activities of the business entities.
The amendments were introduced to the Code of administrative responsibility in line with the law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan”.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the law on 11 December 2014. Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 7 November 2014 and Senate approved it on 14 November 2014.
According to the amendments, hindering to hindering entrepreneurship activities, violation of legislation on registration of business entities, rendering state services to them, violation of order of inspection of enterprises, demanding statistic, financial and other reports will led to fine of the officials at the size from 10 to 20-sizes of minimal salary (earlier – from 7 to 10-sizes of minimal salary).
If the violation is repeated again within a year after use of administrative punishment will lead to fine at the size of 20 and 30-size of minimal salary (earlier – from 10 to 15-sizes of minimal salary).
In line with amendments to the Code, illegal interference to activities of business entities led to fine to the citizens at the size from 2 to 5-sizes of minimal salary and officials – from 20 to 60-sizes of minimal salary (earlier to officials – from 15 to 50-sizes of minimal salary).
