Uzbekistan to create national park Durmen

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On creation of national park Durmen” on 5 June 2014.
The document was adopted to preserve, reproduce and rationally use unique and valuable plants of park zone in Durmen village in Tashkent region, which has natural-ecologic, scientific, cultural and aesthetic value.
The Government approved proposal of the State Committee of Uzbekistan on nature protection, Uzbekistan Science Academy, Tashkent city and Tashkent regional administrations on creation of national park Durmen with the area of 32.4 hectares on the base of park zone in Durmen village in Kibray district of Tashkent region.
According to the resolution, national park Durmen will be protected natural territory, which has special scientific, ecological, cultural and aesthetic value. The park is owned by the government and protected by it.
Any activities, which contradict to targeted use of the park and threatening to preservation, reproduction and rehabilitation of plants, are prohibited in the territory of the park, the document said.
The resolution also banned allocation of lands of the national park for state and public needs, constriction of industrial objects, habitations and other objects, except objects of national park. The land tax will not levied from the park.
The State Committee of Uzbekistan on nature protection and Uzbekistan Science Academy were entrusted to include the park to the state cadastre of protected natural territories. Tashkent regional administration was entrusted to allocate additional land at the size of 4 hectares to new park.
The park will be financed due to budget of Tashkent city, donations and other sources, which are not banned with the legislation.
