Over 3,800 WWII veterans live in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Currently, some 3,873 veterans of World War II (WWII) live in Uzbekistan along with 79,000 veterans, who worked at the rear, according to the data of Nuroniy Foundation.
Nuroniy Foundation pays great attention to social protection, material and moral support of these veterans. The foundation implements measures on social and medial support of veterans.
The work on material and moral support of veterans is conducted in close cooperation with the state and public organizations.
According to Nuroniy Foundation, the veterans will receive 600,000 soums of lump-sum payment in line with the presidential decree. The awards are currently handed over to the veterans.
Nuroniy Foundation and Organization on support of defense of Uzbekistan Vatanparvar prepared gifts and congratulations, which will be handed over to veterans by 8 May 2014.
The war veterans also received 250,000 soums each from Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation. About 60 veterans will receive free tickets to undergo medical treatment.
Nutoniy Foundation transferred 80 million soums to encourage 1,600 veterans, who are living in the regions of Uzbekistan. Dori Darmon also provides medicaments to the veterans.
