Uzbekistan directs 350bn soums to road construction in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan directed over 350 billion soums to construction and reconstruction of automobile roads, which are part of the Uzbek national highway, in the first six months of 2013, the publication of the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The publication said that Republication Road Fund issued 292.5 billion soums of these funds and foreign loans, allocated under the warranty of the Government of Uzbekistan, made up 57.4 billion soums.
In the reporting period, Uzbekistan completed works on construction and repair of 219.7 km of automobile roads, including 15 km of A-373 Tashkent-Osh road bypassing Kokand, 8 km of new direction of Tashkent ring road, 100 km of A-380 road Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beineu. Construction and assembly works of 25 roadside infrastructure and service objects have been started at Uzbek national highway.
Uzbekistan Temir Yo’llari used investments for US$161.8 million within the programme “On speeding up developing infrastructure, transport and communication construction for 2011-2015”.
Some 109.5 km of railroads were rehabilitated and 227 cargo and 15 passenger wagons were produced in the reporting period.
Within the project on electrification of railroad Marakand-Karshi and Karshi-Termez, about US$19.1 million were used. The work on construction of new electrified railroad Angren-Pap has been started.
