Some 13,000 small businesses created in Uzbekistan in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Some 13,000 small businesses (without farm entities) were founded in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2012, the statement of the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
At the same time, largest number of small businesses (64.6%) was created in production sectors, the statement said.
In order to assist organization of small enterprises, some 35 state assets for 6.3 billion soums were realized to small and private business in January-June 2012. Some 14,000 unused state objects were rented to the small businesses.
Commercial banks of Uzbekistan increase allocation of loans and micro loans to small and private businesses by 1.4 times year-on-year in the first half of 2012.
The volume of public procurement from small businesses made up 122.3 billion soums in January-June 2012, which makes up 92% of all public procurement, conducted via electronic trade system. Over 132,200 small businesses participated in electronic public procurement system with their goods and services.
In the result of the adopted measures, small businesses exported goods and services for US$1.087 billion in January-June 2012, which is 1.41% more year-on-year.
In the result of stimulating fast development of small and private business, their share in GDP grew from 42.2% in the first half of 2011 to 42.6% in the same period of 2012, in industry – from 18.6% to 21.2%, in investments – from 30.3% to 35.4%, in construction – from 70% to 75.1%, in export from 13.5% to 15.2% and in employment – 74.1% to 74.7%.
