Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 June 2021, in Dushanbe, within the framework of the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Tajikistan Davlatali Said.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations were discussed, as well as issues related to the preparation for the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan and the holding of related events.
During the meeting, the Tajik side emphasized that the planned visit at the highest level will become a powerful stimulus for the development of a multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik partnership and will bring the relationship between the two states to a qualitatively new level.
The results of the intensive joint work of the ministries and departments of the two countries aimed at strengthening trade, economic, investment and interregional cooperation and rapprochement of the Uzbek and Tajik business communities, which was held over the past few months, were considered.
It was noted that the systematic approach used to coordinate joint actions of the ministries, departments and economic entities of the two countries during the negotiation processes made it possible to achieve tangible results in a short time and significantly expand the scale of bilateral cooperation. Proof of this is a number of agreements reached on the implementation of large investment projects and trade agreements, the relevant documents on which are planned to be signed during the first Uzbek-Tajik interregional forum, which will be held in Bokhtar, Khatlon region on June 9 this year.
The parties discussed priority areas for the development of investment cooperation, and also agreed to intensify joint work to improve conditions for the development of mutual trade by consistently canceling existing tariff and non-tariff measures and simplifying the access of Uzbek and Tajik products to the markets of the two countries. Confidence was expressed that these measures would allow to fulfill the task set to bring the volume of Uzbek-Tajik trade to US$1 billion in the near future.
The parties expressed their intention to adhere to the set pace in the further development of interaction by establishing close intergovernmental cooperation and holding regular meetings to monitor the progress achieved, and discuss new promising areas of partnership.
