Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 April 2021, the Uzbek-Polish Business Forum was held online. Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan B. Abidov, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. Jasimov, Deputy Director of the Agency for Attraction of Foreign Investments O. Elmuratov, Director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Khojaev.
The Polish side was represented by Vice President, General Director of the Polish Chamber of Commerce M. Klocko, Deputy Minister of Development, Employment and Technology of Poland R. Tomanek, Board Member of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency G. Slomkowski, Adviser to the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry K. Plominski.
At the beginning of this forum, the Vice-President, General Director of the Polish Chamber of Commerce M. Klotzko made a welcoming speech, where he noted that the trade and economic cooperation between the business circles of the two countries had significantly intensified.
Then the First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan I. Jasimov made a speech. He also stressed that the Republic of Poland is one of the important partners of Uzbekistan in Europe.
It should be noted that there are significant reserves between Uzbekistan and Poland in cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, including the participation of Polish companies in the creation of high-tech industries in Uzbekistan in the agricultural, pharmaceutical and construction industries.
At the end of 2020, trade between our countries amounted to US$186.3 million, of which exports from Uzbekistan amount to US$57.2 million, and imports to US$129 million. 40 enterprises with the participation of investors from Poland and 28 joint ventures operate in Uzbekistan, and 12 representative offices of Polish companies have been opened.
During the business forum, the prospects of Uzbek-Polish trade and economic interaction, issues of developing regional cooperation, the advantages of electronic trading platforms in mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Poland, as well as opportunities for increasing the efficiency of bilateral trade were discussed.
Further, presentations were presented on the economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan for investors and business circles wishing to continue their activities in Uzbekistan.
After the Uzbek-Polish Business Forum, on 14 April 2021, the seventh meeting of the Uzbek-Polish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held.
During the meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Poland, speeches were heard in trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as in agriculture and food industry, transport and logistics and other areas.
