First large solar power plant to be commissioned in Uzbekistan in September

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 April 201, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, together with the Khokimiyat of Navoi region, organized a press tour with the participation of the media in Karmana district of Navoi region with a visit to the construction site of a photovoltaic solar station (PVP) with a total capacity of 100 MW.
The station being built in Karmana district is the first large solar photovoltaic installation in the history of Uzbekistan, which generates electricity from renewable energy sources.
Currently, the facility with a total area of 268 hectares is equipped with technological equipment, panels, inverters, transformers.
The launch of the photovoltaic plant will generate 260 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and save 79 million cubic meters of natural gas.
The power generation capacity of 100 MW of electricity allows, on average, to provide power supply to 5 districts.
