Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- VEB.RF Corporation and the Tashkent Metro (the Toshkent Metro unitary enterprise of the Uzbekiston Temir Yollari Joint Stock Company signed a loan agreement for the supply of ten modern metro trains produced by Russian Transmashholding. The volume of the credit line is 30.4 million euros for up to 12 years.
AO Roseximbank (REC group) will also take part in financing the transaction from the Russian Export Center (part of the VEB.RF group), which will finance, under a separate loan agreement, part of the cost of metro cars and the cost of a set of spare parts and accessories under the insurance coverage of EXIAR (REC group).
On the part of VEB.RF, the document was signed by the Deputy Chairman of VEB.RF - Board Member Daniil Algulian, on the part of the Tashkent Metro - by the head of the Tashkent Metro Unitary Enterprise Oybek Khudoykulov. The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition.
“Supporting the export of Russian industrial products is one of the main activities of VEB.RF. A large-scale program for the reconstruction of the public transport system is currently underway in Uzbekistan. Modern Russian-made trains are already running in the Tashkent metro - in the fall of 2019, with the support of VEB, Tashkent received the first five trains. And this is not the only Uzbek-Russian project in the field of urban economy. At present, VEB is discussing with the Tashkent city administration a number of projects aimed at creating and developing infrastructure,” said Daniil Algulyan.
“Uzbekistan is an important partner for us, and we are certainly interested in the joint implementation of large infrastructure projects aimed at social and economic development. In this project, the role of two Russian financial institutions, ROSEKSIMBANK and VEB.RF, is especially characteristic, which, with the support of the government of Uzbekistan, fully financed the purchaser of Russian equipment, UE Toshkent Metropolitan,” comments Veronika Nikishina, General Director of REC JSC.
“We sincerely thank our Uzbek colleagues for their trust,” said Andrey Vasiliev, Deputy General Director of TMH. “I am sure that the residents of Tashkent will appreciate the comfort, aesthetics and safety of the new Russian trains.”
The rolling stock will be produced at the Metrovagonmash enterprise near Moscow (part of Transmashholding JSC). The new metro cars will be used to form 10 four-car trains. The cars are equipped with inter-car passages of a modular design with a through passage for the unhindered movement of passengers in the train, double-leaf reclining-sliding doors 1.4 meters wide with external light signaling of open and closed states. The head carriages have spaces for wheelchairs. Each passenger compartment is equipped with touchscreen information monitors with interactive search capabilities for the destination station, route planning, and travel time calculation. Passenger cabins and driver's cabs are equipped with video surveillance, air conditioning and air disinfection systems. The service life of metro cars and frames is 30 years. The windshield of the driver's cab will be equipped with an adjustable manual sunscreen, taking into account the peculiarities of the Tashkent metro - some of the Tashkent metro lines run on the surface of the earth.
