As a result of several operations, the Uzbek special services have seized 6.5 kg of drugs.
"Officers of the Uzbek National Security Service (NSS) have held several successful anti-drug operations," the Vesti.UZ website has quoted the NSS’s press service as saying.
The press service said that a 24-year-old resident of Surkhandarya Region’s Termiz District (Uzbekistan’s southern border on Afghanistan and Tajikistan) had been detained while attempting to sell over 1 kg of heroin in a busy part of Tashkent city.
A total of 1.5 kg of raw opium was seized during an operation in Tashkent’s Chilonzor District.
Moreover, the NSS’s press centre said 4 kg of heroin, which was being smuggled from Tajikistan into Kazakhstan, was seized during a car search at a traffic police post in Tashkent Region.
Criminal cases have been opened.
