CA+ Germany format becomes a key component in strengthening diplomatic ties with the countries of the region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The International Institute for Central Asia (MICA) hosted a meeting with German Ambassador to Uzbekistan Dr Thilo Klinner.

During the conversation, the head of the diplomatic mission noted that the pragmatic and balanced foreign policy of the President of Uzbekistan contributes to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and creates favourable conditions for strengthening stability and prosperity in the region. As a result of this approach, significant progress has been made in improving relations among Central Asian countries and strengthening good-neighbourly ties.

In discussing regional co-operation, the sides noted with satisfaction that co-operation in the Central Asia + Germany format has become a key component in strengthening Germany's diplomatic ties with the countries of the region. Cooperation within this format brings new prospects and opportunities in political, economic and cultural spheres.

Among the main areas of cooperation in the Central Asia + Germany format were identified as economy, energy and natural resource management, regional cooperation and sustainability, climate and environmental issues, as well as the development of direct contacts between citizens.

During the meeting, the participants also expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation under the Green Central Asia initiative, emphasising the importance of joint efforts to combat climate change and adapt to its impacts. In this context, this initiative, presented by Germany, forms a common approach of the parties to climate change issues in the region.

At the end of the meeting, T. Klinner expressed readiness to assist in establishing cooperation between MICA and German analytical structures, such as the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and the German Institute for Global and Regional Studies (GIGA).
