Uzbekistan starts to import AI-80 gasoline from Russia

30/01/2023 19:10

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 December 2022, the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to uninterruptedly provide consumers with motor gasoline in the autumn-winter period and prevent a sharp increase in its prices" was approved. According to this resolution, until 1 March 2023, as an exception, the zero excise tax rate for AI-80 gasoline imported, produced by domestic enterprises and sold by business entities to end consumers.

According to the data, today the number of cars owned by the population of the republic exceeds 3 million. Most of these cars are adapted for driving on compressed gas. This was reported by the press service of JSC "Uzbekneftegaz".

Due to a sharp cold snap in the territory of the republic in December 2022 and January 2023, as well as the introduction of restrictions on the operation of gas stations, the demand of the population for AI-80 gasoline increased sharply compared to supply.

This, in turn, caused a shortage in petrol stations.

In order to uninterruptedly provide consumers of the republic with motor gasoline in the autumn-winter period, prevent a sharp rise in prices, maintain a balance of supply and demand in the market, as well as prevent a shortage in the domestic market, systematic work is being carried out in the industry.

On the part of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, in order to meet the needs of the sectors of the economy and the population of the republic with high-quality motor gasoline at affordable prices, along with domestic products manufactured at the Bukhara oil refinery, which is run by the joint-stock company, imports of finished products have been established.

In particular, in January of this year, agreements were concluded between Uzbekneftegaz JSC and Russian companies Gazprom OJSC, Tatneft OJSC, Orsknefteorgsintez OJSC for the import of 50 thousand tons, and business entities for 5.0 thousand tons of gasoline of AI-80 mark. Today, measures are being taken to deliver it to the territory of the republic and sell it to the domestic market.

It should be noted that in neighboring countries - Russia, Kazakhstan, the production of AI-80 gasoline is stopped, and is produced only by order of entrepreneurs, and the quality basically meets the requirements of AI-80 K2, K5 gasoline.

According to preliminary calculations, taking into account the delivery of products to the territory of the republic by rail and other costs, the initial price for sale on the commodity base is 7.08 million soums per ton, and the final price for sale to consumers at gas stations is 6,000-6,200 soums per liter.

Bukhara Oil Refinery LLC, which is run by the company, uses AI-80 gasoline production capacities at the level of 130-140 percent (daily gasoline production increased from 2,750 tons to 3,300 tons compared to the corresponding period last year).
