Uzbekistan increases coal extraction by 2.7% in Jan-Sep

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased coal extraction by 2.7% year-on-year to 2.737 million tonnes in January-September 2009.
Open-cast coal mining rose by 6.9% year-on-year to 2.503 million tonnes and shaft coal mining decreased by 31.8% year-on-year to 233,700 tonnes.
Uzbekistan increased brown coal by 15.3% year-on-year to 2.679 million tonnes and coal output decreased by 14.6% to 58,500 tonnes.
Uzbekugol open joint-stock company produces 98% of coal in Uzbekistan. The company extracts coal at Angren brown coal mine in Tashkent region with reserves of 1.9 billion tonnes.
