Tanzila Narbaeva: the business forum opens a new page in the development of bilateral cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Today, on 21 September 2021, an official visit of a delegation led by Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva to Bishkek (the Kyrgyz Republic) took place.
During the visit, our delegation headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis took part in the international business forum "Dialogue of Women Entrepreneurs of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan".
Representatives of ministries, international organizations, business associations, civil society, women entrepreneurs and the media also took part in the event, organized with the aim of forming a sustainable Dialogue of women entrepreneurs of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to strengthen their regional economic potential.
Opening the forum, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva noted that the Dialogue of Women Entrepreneurs of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in such a wide format and with the participation of representative delegations of both countries is being held for the first time. And this business forum opens a new page in the development of bilateral cooperation on the economic empowerment of women.
“As part of the chairmanship of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia, the Uzbek side attaches great importance to the development and strengthening of practical business cooperation between women entrepreneurs both in regional and bilateral formats,” Tanzila Narbaeva noted.
During the forum, special attention was paid to the issues of creating new opportunities and prospects for women entrepreneurs, strengthening competencies in trend areas of the economy for the countries of Central Asia, uniting women entrepreneurs at the country and regional levels, demonstrating and transferring the experience of women entrepreneurs from participating countries, and other issues.
It was noted that trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan is dynamically developing. In the past five years alone, bilateral trade has grown almost tenfold and by the end of 2020 amounted to more than US$900 million.
“In Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to stimulating and supporting women’s entrepreneurship,” Tanzila Narbaeva noted. - In 2020, the number of women entrepreneurs reached 172.4 thousand. In every region of the country there are Women’s Entrepreneurship Centers, which annually receive practical assistance on entrepreneurship, professional retraining and employment of about 30 thousand women.
Within the framework of the recently established State Trust Fund for the Support of Women with an authorized capital of US$96 million, a program of concessional loans for projects of women entrepreneurs was launched.
It was noted that the Forum will contribute to the achievement of the tasks of the adopted "road map" for the development of cooperation between women entrepreneurs of Central Asia and Afghanistan within the framework of the Dialogue of Women of Central Asia. This event will strengthen the previously reached agreements of inter-parliamentary, trade and economic cooperation, as well as maintaining a high level of good-neighborliness between the two countries, strategic partnership and the development of women’s entrepreneurship in the region. And the rich experience of the participants will contribute to the consolidation of efforts in realizing the goals and objectives in the field of economic empowerment of women.
According to the participants, the Forum will become the basis for the further development of intercountry and regional cooperation between women entrepreneurs in building best practices for a sustainable economy.
As a result of the Forum, a resolution was adopted on cooperation in different sectors of the economy for further mutually beneficial partnership chaired by the Vice Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the representative of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
