Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 June 2021, within the framework of the Week of Sustainable Development Goals launched in the country, a round table was held on the topic "Promoting the building of peaceful and open societies on the path to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals."
It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of UNESCO, UNICEF and other international organizations, officials of relevant ministries and departments.
Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption N. Umarov noted the compliance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030, each of which contains specific and targeted tasks, approved by the Decree of the President of the Strategy of Action in five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, the ongoing reforms to develop the social sphere contribute to the implementation of a comprehensive program.
The participants of the round table noted the need to strengthen information transparency of state authorities and administration in the exercise of citizens' rights to information and to ensure the protection of the fundamental freedoms of citizens.
At the center of the discussion at the event were questions about prohibiting the provision of preferences to business entities in the process of selecting suppliers of goods and services within the framework of public procurement and reducing the conclusion of contracts through direct negotiations, simplifying the my.sud.uz platform, developing territorial state programs in the field of preventing harassment and violence against women, financing and improving the activities of centers for the prevention of violence and suicide, providing them with specialists, developing special guidelines and standards.
At the end of the event, with the participation of the responsible ministries, departments and experts, appropriate recommendations were developed.
