Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On June 16, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama and Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdukodir Toshkulov signed Exchange Notes on the project "Granting Scholarships for Personnel Training" (JDS) , which is carried out within the framework of the program of gratuitous assistance of the Government of Japan, in the amount of 278 million yen (about 2.57 million US dollars). This was reported by the press service of the Japanese Embassy in Uzbekistan.
For many years, Japan has been supporting Uzbekistan in the steady implementation of reforms in the field of economy and public administration, as well as promoting democratization.
The JDS project envisages the provision of young civil servants, who are entrusted with the future of Uzbekistan, with the necessary funding to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree in Japanese universities, which will contribute to the preparation of qualified human resources in various fields, such as technical sciences, law, business management, economics, agriculture, health care, education, etc.
For young civil servants of the Republic, this project will provide 18 master’s degrees and 1 doctoral position in Japan. It is expected that the implementation of this project will allow specialists responsible for the future of Uzbekistan to acquire professional knowledge and apply it in practice for the development of the economy and society of Uzbekistan. In addition, this project will contribute to a deeper understanding of Japan.
Despite the difficult epidemiological situation, the Government of Japan intends to continue to contribute to the development of human resources in Uzbekistan in order to further develop bilateral relations, the Japanese Embassy in Tashkent said.
