Preparations for international events in the field of human rights discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The most important international events on human rights planned for the current year and preparations for them were discussed on 15 January 2021 at a meeting of the Scientific Coordination Council (NCC) at the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights.
At the meeting, the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmal Saidov made a presentation on the topic: “Human rights issues in the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis”.
Also at the meeting of the NCC, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Ulugbek Lapasov made a speech "Membership of Uzbekistan in the UN Human Rights Council: new tasks for foreign policy and state bodies", Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO Umid Shodiev, the presentation of which was dedicated to the theme “Global Forum “Human Rights Education”: New Challenges, Objectives and Approaches to Implementation”.
As it was emphasized in the speeches, the President’s Address pays special attention to the state policy of Uzbekistan in the field of human rights at the present stage.
At the meeting of the Scientific Coordination Council, it was noted that Uzbekistan’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council poses the need for the scientific community to analyze international legal processes in the field of human rights and widely use this in research and educational process. Promotion of the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the international arena requires the training of highly professional specialists in the field of the international aspect of human rights.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training, which was adopted in December 2011 by the UN General Assembly Resolution. In 2019, by a joint resolution of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the National Action Plan and "Road Map" were adopted to implement the provisions of this UN Declaration. This year, at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, it is planned to hold the Global Forum "Human Rights Education", which will discuss certain results of the past decade, new challenges and tasks of forming a culture of human rights.
In the discussions, it was emphasized that the preparation and holding of the Forum will become a common platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices in human rights education, which has now been developed in Uzbekistan.
The discussion was attended by the teaching staff of higher educational institutions, representatives of academic institutions and civil society.
