Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a regular meeting of the International Academic Advisory Committee of the Oxford Center for Islamic Research (OCIR) in the format of video-conference communication, the main directions of its activities, promising priorities of international cooperation were considered.
It was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sadiq Safoev, who is a member of the International Academic Advisory Committee of the OCIR.
The meeting, which was chaired by the head of the OCIR, Dr. F. Nizami, was also attended by a number of prominent politicians, scientists and public figures of Muslim countries.
The participants of the event discussed the priority directions of teaching and research activities in the Muslim community and Islamic science. In particular, projects in health care, science and technology, the allocation of scholarships and grants, leadership programs, international academic cooperation and others were considered.
Relations between OCIR and the Republic of Uzbekistan were established in 1992. The Center's specialists were attracted by the government of Oman to implement the Beruni library project in Tashkent.
Young researchers from Uzbekistan regularly train at the OCIR under the Al-Bukhari and At-Termizi scholarships specially created for immigrants from Central Asia. The center signed memorandums of cooperation with Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, the Research Center for Islamic Studies at the Tashkent Islamic University and a number of other institutions.
In March 2018. the delegation of Uzbekistan consisting of the Centers of Islamic Civilization, Imam Bukhari, as well as for the study of cultural values abroad and the Research Center at the Tashkent Islamic University visited OCIR.
Following the visit, a "road map" was approved for cooperation between scientific centers of Uzbekistan and Great Britain for 2018-2022.
