University of Dundee confirms interest in training highly qualified personnel in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Uzbek Embassy in London held talks with the Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the University of Dundee (UoD) Wendy Alexander, Dunyo news agency reported.
The British side was familiarized with the information on the large-scale reforms in the field of education and science being carried out in Uzbekistan, in particular on the Concept for the development of the higher education system until 2030, as well as the country’s priorities in the field of training highly qualified personnel, including with the involvement of the potential of foreign universities and scientific centers. It was emphasized that in the implementation of this goal, Uzbekistan pays special attention to the development of cooperation with British universities.
Vice-rector Wendy Alexander spoke about the activities of UoD and its international cooperation. It was noted that the university extensively interacts with foreign partners, including implementing double degree programs, exchanging students and teachers, as well as conducting joint research.
As noted by Wendy Alexander, UoD is one of the country’s leading universities in the field of biology and medicine. It has more than 50 specialized research centers and schools, in particular in such areas as dentistry, biology, immunology, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, clinical and forensic medicine, genomic research, forensics, anatomy and biological anthropology, public health, security maternal and child health, and others.
Noting her awareness of large-scale plans for the development of higher education in Uzbekistan, Wendy Alexander on behalf of the University of Dundee expressed her readiness to develop long-term strategic cooperation with leading universities and research institutes of the republic.
In particular, it was proposed to consider the possibility of implementing joint programs of "double diplomas" at the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, the implementation of joint research projects, including in the field of pharmaceuticals and medicine, the organization of online lectures and refresher courses for Uzbek doctors, and more.
As a result of the negotiations, agreements were reached on working out specific areas of interaction between the University of Dundee and specialized universities of Uzbekistan.
