Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the ongoing work to expand the export of goods to Japan, a meeting was held with the President of the Organization for the Promotion of Imports of Manufactured Goods and Investments Tsutomu Higuchi in the format of a video conference.
The Manufactured Imports and Investment Promotion Organization (MIPRO) was established in 1978 as a non-profit organization through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Japanese Business Federation (Keidanren). MIPRO collects and analyzes information on the expansion of imports of goods and investments in Japan. MIPRO regularly organizes seminars, disseminates information, publishes reference materials and provides consulting services to help overseas companies enter the Japanese commodity and investment market.
The Japanese side was familiarized in detail with the current socio-economic development of Uzbekistan, the achievements of the republic in recent years and the trends of a significant intensification of interaction with foreign countries, in particular with Japan in trade, economic and investment fields. It was noted that the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to Japan in December last year gave a powerful impetus to Uzbek-Japanese cooperation.
Tsutomu Higuchi noted with satisfaction the results of the high-level visit to Japan in December 2019, during which important bilateral documents were signed, in particular, a joint statement on the further deepening of the strategic partnership between the countries, and expressed confidence that this would contribute to building up trade and economic and investment ties between our countries.
Higuchi acquainted with the current activities of MIPRO, the priority tasks facing the organization and the practice of cooperation with foreign states.
The Japanese side expressed its readiness to provide assistance in information support and advice to exporters of Uzbekistan on entering the Japanese market. At the initial stage, products of agricultural processing and textile industry were identified as potential goods for export to Japan.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a consultative webinar for domestic exporters interested in entering the Japanese market, with the participation of Japanese experts, as well as online business matching between trading companies of the two countries.
Currently, work has begun with the Japanese side of the specific timing of a consultative webinar, at which Japanese specialists will familiarize the Uzbek side in detail with the legislation, requirements and specific features of the Japanese market, and give advice to small and medium-sized companies wishing to export their products to Japan.
As this issue is worked out, the Embassy will send a specific proposal on the dates and agenda of the event.
